On-Board computing results in numerous RS-232 data lines coming into the serial ports or PCMCIA serial port cards of your expensive laptop or desktop computer. Power surges, static electricity, and grounding problems can all result in damage to these ports. Though we have seen this only occasionally, it is catastrophic when it occurs. And though we can't guaranty that a serial surge protector will solve all possible problems, we think this little "in-line" adapter is a small price to pay for additional protection to your valuable equipment. We recommend that you add one of these suppressors to each of the data lines coming into your PC:
